A Book Review by Christopher Solop of

A Coach Is…Reflections on People Who Have Impacted Our Lives

This is not my ordinary sort of post for this blog, but I want everyone who views our website to know about this great little book, A Coach Is…Reflections on People Who Have Impacted Our Lives. I have a personal connection to it, but I think it is universally valuable. It was put together through the hard work and persistence of Jay and Maureen Jorgenson. Jay played high school basketball in New Jersey, where I grew up. His high school basketball team and mine were rivals. Jay went on to play Division 1 basketball with my brother, Steve, at Fairleigh Dickinson University, who also provided illustrations for the book. It is fun to read the many musings included in this book about coaches, sports, and growing up. My short story is on page 50, but this is not a plug for me.

The really important thing I want you to know is that this book is dedicated to all former college athletes who are battling cancer. Teammates 4 Life Foundation is in the fight with these athletes. All proceeds from the sale of the book go to this Foundation to provide financial support when needed. If you would like to order a copy of this book send a check for $15.00, plus $3.00 for postage to:

Please take a minute and read the Forward to the book [link below] by Seth Greenberg, ESPN Basketball Analysis and start thinking about “paying it forward” to young male and female athletes. These individuals will be the leaders of the future.
